In 1994 the two geman brothers Rosemeyer from Löningen founded two associations in order to give these children a chance to live a decent life: the German organisation „Der Kleine Nazareno e.V.“ and the Brazilian partner organisation „Associacao Beneficente O Pequeno Nazareno“ (OPN). Both can be translated as “The Little Nazareno Organisation”. During the past ten years these organisations succeeded in building two "Nazareno-villages" – near Fortaleza and Recife – in wich today more than 110 children are living in better conditions.
Each child living in one of these villages is unique; all of them have one thing in common: a traumatising past in the streets and the dream of being able to offer their own children a better home than what they used to have.
Our experience, based on ten years of intensive work with street kids, shows that it is possible to get those childrens out of the streets, even with few ressources. This fact gives us the courage that is necessary to continue, but it also makes us speechless considering how many children in Brazil still have to suffer tremendous and senseless misery.
Step by step we accompany the children on their way of becoming adults. We try to rebuild their self-confidence, to teach them how to read an write and enable them to achieve an apprenticeship.
We want to be able to get more children away from the street and offer them a new home. Furthermore, we want to be able to offer all of these children a good education and vocational training.
In order to reach this goal we need your support!
